Photogrammetry Course

I recently completed a course on photogrammetry – The process of solving a camera position in order to model the environment in the photo. The course was given my Paul McWilliams through CGSociety.

I learnt a lot during the course and would highly recommended it to anyone interested in visual effects.

  1. Hello, I’m really interested in your work and i’d like to know which software did you use to create such a clean model of this house? I know how to obtain point clouds and mesh but I don’t know how to modify the mesh so softly and precisely and obtain something clean and beautiful.
    Thanks for your help,
    Best regards,

    • Hi,

Thanks for the comment. The models were generated from photos, the cameras where matched and calibrated in autodesk imagemodeler, and it was finally modelled in autodesk Maya, and rendered in mental ray. To produce a model like this takes a lot of manual work. The point cloud would be good to assist with camera calibration, but one would still need to model over the projection to get clean topology. Let me know if this answers your question?

If you have any other queries, please drop me a mail from the home page:)
