It has been ages since I have posted anything… this year has been pretty crazy.
Anyways I’m posting some WIP of a new piece I am working on (with any luck I will actually find the time to finish it!).
The main purpose of this was to get back into rendering a bit (and practice some physically based lighting).
Lighting: Mental ray area lights & final gather (driven by HDR image filtered with a convolve to reduce splotches)
Materials: MIA material
Modelling, texture and lighting setup time: About 3 days in-between work
Textures: 3x 8k maps (diffuse, reflection, bump)
Render Time: 3 minutes (unified sampling)
