Over the last week I have been working on a proof of concept script that exports Photoshop paths to polygonal meshes directly. The script can export paths directly or it can generate them automatically from the transparent areas of a layer. This script has only been tested with Photoshop CC thus far.
I recently completed a plugin for Maya that integrates online image search functionality. My idea behind it was to eliminate the break in workflow that arises when artists need to fire up a browser to search for reference images, save them, and then load them into Maya. This tool handles all of that that right from inside Maya.
So I recently started a course in image processing to improve my understanding of how computers process images, and more specifically how the underlying features of compositing applications like nuke work.

Using Maya environment variables in your python scripts is a very convenient way to access files that your scripts need, such as UI files, or xml settings files etc. The basic principle is: Get a string of all the directories in the environment variable, split them by the separator, and then search each directory in the list for the file you are look for:
